The first cable poles have been established on July 4th 1861. When telegraph has reached Salt Lake City from the east on October 17th 1861 Brigs telegraphed to president Abraham Linkoln that despite rumours the State of Utah did not leave the Union. Before transition to remittances the company rendered services on sphere of cable communication. Creighton and Gamble have managed to convince local residents (Indians) that the telegraph was a voice of great spirit of Manitu and it cannot be harmed. Division of the companies claimed two aims: first to give Western Union possibility to develop more intensively and secondly to help First Data to return to the primary activity (in 1992 the company was stood out from payment system of American Express as the independent financial company).
